The Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge on North Carolina’s Coastal Plain is a unique habitat for wildlife and offers incredible opportunities for nature enthusiasts and wildlife photographers. I’ve never visited the refuge without having seen something fascinating, awe inspiring and beautiful. From black bears, red wolves, river otters and wild turkeys to beautiful sunsets and sunrises, every visit provides some new treasured experience.

Duke Gardens is an unexpected 55 acre jewel sitting on Duke University in Durham NC.

One of my favorite times to visit the North Carolina coast is January through May. There are opportunities to see the migratory birds wintering on our coast and a variety of wildlife, including Black Bears and Red Wolves. And the late winter Milky Way views are truly breathtaking.
